Climbing from Longshaw Estate's grassy parkland to the windswept rocks topping Carl Wark hill fort is like entering another world. Defended by sheer drops and a huge wall, this is a superb summit. And no wonder the stones haven't been taken for building local houses, just look at the size and weight of these boulders!
