When the army of Bonny Prince Charlie approached Eyam the villagers hid their cattle among the humps and hollows of Bretton Clough. It's still a secret place, with bracken covered slopes and brooks meandering beneath the trees. There are some steep ups and downs making this little walk a bit more of a challenge than it appears, but especially in autumn the delightful colours make it a splendid expedition.
