"Where is everyone?", we wondered on our walk through empty Cheshire fields and along the near deserted Shropshire Union Canal. But picturesque Audlem was bustling, everyone was at the Beer Festival! On our latest visit we found that most of the once ubiquitous maize fields in the vicinity are now pastures so the walking is easy, while the cows we passed were so relaxed they didn't even bother to stand up.
