Leaving Hathersage by the back door it's all uphill to gritstone tors where millstones lie abandoned in the heather. Beyond Padley Gorge, busy as Blackpool on a sunny day, quiet woodland leads to an easy stroll beside the River Derwent. A final tramp round outdoor pursuit shops and a welcome drink rounds off the day.
