Being cut off by the tide is a daily hazard for the folks at Sunderland Point, for Sunderland means the separated land and twice a day the only road to this ancient port of cotton and slaves disappears beneath the waves. So don't go at high tide or you may have to swim! This is where the boats bringing in gunpowder docked and there is a lot of history associated with this remote spot all told by the excellent information boards above the car park.
