Black was one of Ted Hughes favourite words, so it's no surprise he wrote about the sombre cliff of Scout Rock. But looking the other way, with Mytholmroyd picked out in the sunshine, it would be difficult, even for a Poet Laureate, to remain in a black mood for long.
