At Little Budworth there's a lovely, not too taxing stroll through woodland and across open heathland, at its best in August. You feel miles from anywhere, but at weekends there is the distant snarl of racing cars at the popular Oulton Park. You may meet Cheshire's polo ponies being exercised, some on leading reins, but more likely only friendly dog walkers will be encountered. Budworth is named after a Saxon who owned a clearing in the ancient hunting forest, we think he would have felt at home here.
