With brightly coloured anoraks at rock bottom prices in autumn it's sale time in Ambleside, but leave the bargains for later and climb to Lily Tarn. Here the fellside colours are pure nature with orange bracken, golden grass, water an azure blue and a skyline of snowy mountains. Then, if you have time and with the worst of the ascent behind you, continue to the summit of Loughrigg Fell, one of the finest viewpoints in all Lakeland.
