"There are some lovely walks round here", said the couple we met walking their little white dog on the Peak Forest Canal at Hyde. "And the people are so friendly too", they added. Well of course, this is Manchester! This unexpected bit of countryside, sandwiched between the Peak Forest Canal and the River Tame, has stretches of dense woodland while the Haughton Dale Nature Reserve is full of wildlife.
