Sunshine and showers make the Lake District, so our chosen day was perfection with a brilliant blue sky and all the becks tumultuous torrents of waterfalls. Yet finest of all were the tarns, each as Wordsworth said "A liquid pool that glittered in the sun", while the return along the shore of Coniston Water was as lovely as ever.
