Every Spring the hillside above Baslow is awash with colour for here is one of the best displays of bluebells in the Peak District. But reward comes only with effort and as you climb away from Calver you might think, as you plod steeply uphill, can this really be worth it. Well it is, and soon the climb is over and all is easy as, with views across the Derwent Valley to Chatsworth and Longstone Edge, you follow a high ridge through the bluebells before descending for a riverside stroll to finish.
