Hartshead Pike has obvious attractions for a walk, with four counties in view from its summit, but Knott Hill Reservoir is a shy, retiring place. Hidden in an unfrequented vale there are few signs to give it away, yet here is a tranquil pool surrounded by trees and all within a few miles of Manchester city centre.
