Pen-y-ghent sounds Welsh and it is, for "hill of the winds" is Celtic. With a distinctive two tier shape this is one of the county's finest summits and also home to one of Britain's rarest and most beautiful flowers, for in March the cliffs are a mass of Purple Saxifrage.
