"Race you to the Summit!" was the challenge when we came here last autumn, for John had entered this well-known fell race. It's classified as short and easy, about the same as today's walk, though fellrunners don't know the meaning of easy. But in February, on the Pennine Bridleway under brilliant blue skies, even the horses were refusing to trot.
