539 Black Hill, Disley

A canalside path, a Millennium wood and a rocky ridge with spectacular views over Lyme Park - this walk from Disley has them all. The village's Anglo-Saxon name "Dystiglegh" means windy settlement and it certainly is breezy up on Black Hill, high above a road the Romans built. Then finally the Gritstone Trail delivers you straight back to the village centre. We first did this walk with our four year old granddaughter who made light work of the climbs and raced John down afterwards.
