523 Brown Knoll

Plodding across Brown Knoll in scorching sunshine it seemed impossible that we once did this trip on cross-country skis. The snow then was so deep that skis were the only way across the frozen waste. More usually the whitewashed trigpoint stands amid a sea of black peat and can be almost impossible to reach. So chose a nice, dry day and you won't get wet feet, or disappear into a snowdrift.
