Bosley Locks is one of the prettiest flights of locks in the country. Here the Macclesfield Canal descends in twelve steps through the Cheshire countryside, with an aqueduct over the River Dane as a grand finale. Each narrow lock unusually has double gates, top and bottom, while a small pond beside the towpath saves the water. There are a couple of pubs and Bosley Reservoir, which supplies the canal, makes a delightful picnic spot.
