Some people say the Peak District hasn't any peaks, but they're forgetting the knife edge ridge and spectacular pinnacle of Parkhouse Hill. Set in the valley of the Upper Dove these steep rocks are remnants of a coral reef that once stood on the bottom of a shallow tropical sea. Short walks aren't always the easiest and though only three miles, this is a surprisingly tough little expedition. But whether you take the scramblers' route to the top or the easier way round the back this is an ascent to delight both adventurer and botanist.
