Spring has really arrived when the first primrose makes its appearance. The name comes from Latin, meaning "first rose" and with masses of wood anemones and celandines, followed by starry ramsons and swathes of bluebells, Musden Wood is not to be missed. After a wet spell the "primrose path" is not an easy way, but a bit of mud is a small price to pay for one of the loveliest floral displays in the Peak District.
