With a splendid medieval castle, an ancient church and a bustling canal the little market town of Skipton makes a grand day out. But less obvious to the visitor is Skipton Woods, hidden beneath the towering castle walls. This little piece of nature, almost in the heart of the town, is where Victorian ladies and gentlemen loved to walk. And afterwards treat yourself to some retail therapy, for there's the town itself to explore, especially on Market Day, with stalls set up all along the High Street.
