486 Ovenden Moor

Thwarted by a flash flood which swept away the paths around Ogden Water we followed instead the old packhorse way up onto Ovenden Moor. Gritstone cliffs stand poised above a steep sided clough and ahead stretches a wild moor. Though a windfarm spreads itself across the western flanks, the views are of Ilkley Moor and a great sweep of Pennine moorland, while Nab Hill is adorned not with just one cairn, but several, each a work of craftsmanship celebrating a noble viewpoint.
