Rising above the former cotton town of Barnoldswick, the gritstone-topped Weets Hill is famed for its 360 degrees panorama. From the summit there's a grandstand view of Pendle Hill, with Boulsworth Hill to be seen beyond Blacko Tower, while northwards lie the Bowland Fells and the Yorkshire Dales. But what does "Weets" mean? "Wet", say some, "Moorland", say others, but under blue skies we were content to scan the horizon picking out the distant tops of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent.
