Spending the night in a tree house sounds like fun, but living in one for five years takes determination. With houses perched in the topmost branches, aerial walkways and even a caravan suspended some 30ft above the ground, the quarries were the home of the Stanton Moor protestors. Only two hundred yards away is the Nine Ladies Stone Circle and a delightful stretch of heather moor which would have been badly affected if the quarry re-opened. They won in 2005 and the quarry had to close.
