467 Lower Peover

Lower Peover sounds a bit like a music hall joke. But the name is pronounced "Peever" and is Anglo Saxon for "Bright River". Though now little more than a stream, the Peover Eye was a major highway in Celtic times. "Waterfall!" exclaimed Elizabeth, leaning out of the papoose carrier. She certainly enjoyed her day out. With pigs, cows and a friendly sheep, what more could a little girl want? Oh yes, a bag of crisps at the pub.
