444 Nuttall Wood

For years, whenever we looked at the map of Bolton, our eyes were drawn to our namesake Nuttall Wood. Were these ancient oaks once a hunting forest for De Notogh of Nuttall Hall, who lived north of Bury in the 14th century? Alas with no public footpath the area remained unvisited. But now the whole area is open and hundreds of trees have been planted to create a new Community Woodland. Definitely this is a Mecca for Nuttalls; and even if you're not one of the clan, you're still very welcome!
