440 Brook Bottom

Tucked away in a fold in the hillside the hamlet of Brook Bottom is so well hidden you'd never suspect it was there. Complete with village pub and Methodist chapel, it looks as though the inhabitants chose this isolated spot to get away from everyone. Amazingly though the road that climbs steeply away from Hague Bridge was once the main road, busy with pack ponies, horses and even coaches. It's a bit quieter now, but there are still lots of horses.
