401 Wetton and Alstonefield

There must be more squeezer stiles on the paths between Wetton and Alstonefield than anywhere else in the Peak District. Designed to allow humans to pass while stopping lambs and sheep from straying, these stiles were surely built by a tall thin person with small feet! It's not a walk for big dogs, unless you're into weight-lifting, but the villages are delightful, especially in spring when gleaming limestone walls are set off to perfection by verges golden with daffodils.
