"You can walk round the muddy bit", said the farmer with a grin as we came down to Hough Hole Farm. But the runners panting uphill didn't care about keeping their feet clean. After all they had just run up and down White Nancy and what mattered was catching the man in front. Or woman - the lady's record stands at 47 minutes, only just behind the men's. Impressive indeed yet, as they passed, a local muttered to us "You'd think they'd have some ironing to do at home!"
