395 Tatton Park

'Too splendid to be called interesting, and too vast to be deemed picturesque; yet it is altogether beautiful'. Thus wrote Humphrey Repton the 18th century designer of Tatton Park. Landscape architects plan for future generations and only his children's children would see how little saplings became stately beech trees complementing the wide open spaces around a mile-long mere. And if Mr Repton could see it today, with red and roe deer roaming freely, what might he say? 'Just as I intended - beautiful'.
