390 Grasmere

This is a Dorothy Wordsworth walk, for the circuit of Grasmere and Rydal Water is one she often mentions in her Journal. Here, with her brother William, she delighted in exploring the fells or wandering beside the moonlit lakes. Passing Rydal Mount and Dove Cottage her footsteps lead along paths and lanes that are lovely in all seasons - summer for a swim or paddle, autumn amid the reds and golds, winter with hoar frost and frozen lakes, or in springtime when golden daffodils are 'fluttering and dancing in the breeze'.
