371 Warton Crag

What connection could a small village tucked away on the fringe of Lancashire possibly have with the first president of the United States? Well Warton, dominated by the prominent limestone cliffs of Warton Crag, was home to the ancestors of George Washington. The crag boasts many rare butterflies and flowers and the climb to the summit is rewarded by views of Morecambe Bay, while inside St Oswald's church the Washington family arms look remarkably like the Stars and Stripes.
