Some people run up, others walk, while many just drive up and sit in the cars. But whichever way you arrive on Congleton Edge the view out over the Cheshire Plain to the distant Welsh hills is magnificent. Geologists call this the Red Rock Fault for the rocks slid upon each other to leave a narrow rocky crest. Yet even if you can't tell your Permian from your Cambrian it's still a surprise to find a cave up here in the gritstone.
