315 Odd Rode

What's odd about Odd Rode? Perhaps this Cheshire parish was named after an ancient Brit called Odda, or maybe the peculiarity is kept a closely guarded secret. But the Victorian church not only had Gilbert Scott, designer of the Foreign Office, as the architect, the composer Havergal Brian was its organist. Quiet lanes, leafy footpaths and the Trent and Mersey canal make an excellent outing, with a visit afterwards to Rode Hall. And you won't meet many other walkers - now that is odd!
