"Here's to the mountain of Nancy, that's built on Ingersley Hill - here's good health, wealth & fancy - & give Dodd another gill". Mr Dodd, the stonemason, was rightly proud of his white-washed folly which gleams brightly in the sunshine high above the little mill town of Bollington. Built to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo, White Nancy is still a landmark for miles around and the climb from the Macclesfield Canal is amply rewarded by wonderful views, so be sure and chose a good, clear day for your visit.
