| 449 Marple Bridge | ||
| "Bridge that gap" - they certainly do this in style at Marple for here two magnificent bridges span the River Goyt. People came from miles around to see the "Grand Aqueduct" when it opened in 1800, then, 50 years later, an even higher railway viaduct was built. Brabyns Park, not to be outdone, has an historic Iron Bridge, while Compstall boasts a twin-arched stone bridge. Then even more bridges, each with a face carved in the centre, cross the Peak Forest Canal. If you like bridges then this is the walk for you.
