The weird humps and hollows of Shedden Clough don't look natural and they aren't. This lunar landscape was created in the 17th and 18th centuries when limestone was extracted by "hushing", using water to scour away clay from Ice Age boulders. We were just imagining the ghostly sounds of packhorses carrying their loads of lime, when round the corner came Danny. A fell pony from Peersclough Farm, Danny was following in the hoofprints of his ancestors along the Pennine Bridleway. We hope he enjoyed his outing as much as we did.
