| With rivers bursting their banks and houses under water, choosing to flood Delamere Forest might seem a little perverse. But the experts are only recreating the ancient wetland of Blakemere Moss. Originally drained during the Napoleonic Wars by French prisoners, the area is once again a lake. Re-establishing the sphagnum moss will take a little longer, but if you pop back in a couple of hundred years it should be nice and boggy by then!
