The Lakeland Sheep & Wool Centre at Cockermouth has 19 different breeds of live sheep on display. The show starts with an empty stage, just a two-tiered ramp labelled with the names of different breeds.  One by one the sheep are announced, then a ram runs onto stage and trots up the ramp to its labelled space.  It's very cleverly done and looks exactly as if the sheep really know their names!  Sometimes you can watch a sheep being shorn, though on our visit the main attraction was a quartet of black lambs.  There is also usually a "one man and his dog" demonstration. Woollen goods and gifts on sale, also refreshments are available.
