20 Aug 2002 From: Paul Hale Manod Mawr For those yet to walk these hills, a warning about quarrying. It is no longer possible to walk between Manod Mawr North top and Manod Mawr direct. If you follow the 1989 guide, and take a bearing to the left of Llyn Pysgod, you will plummet over the edge of new quarry workings ! Not a problem if its clear, but its often not! From the top of MM North Top, you will need to head SE and carefully contour round. The quarry now disects the mountain and the workings come very near the summit of MMNT. Two other tips for this walk: 1) Don't bother looking for the trig point on Manod Mawr 'it ain't there'! 2) Don't expect to finish with dry feet, even if your boots are supermega goretex plus! (unless there is 10 degrees of frost of course!) Safe walking
