Burnhope Seat
I was up on Burhope Seat at the end of June. I had wandered up there from the Alston - Middleton in Teesdale B-road. Having made the top - well I was 200 yards from the summit trig, a gamekeeper with a shotgun approached me, and said "I wasnt supposed to be up there, as there arent any footpaths across the top". The moorland had been restocked with grouse, and he was concerned I would disturb the grouse chicks and scare the parents off - fair comment for a gamekeeper I suppose in fairly poor weather, but a bit un-nerving... He was happy to see me wander off the top across to Harwood Common, but he definitely didnt want me heading straight back down to the B-road. Anyone else had problems up there?
