8 Nov 2005 From: Liz Nicholas Pillar Rock Having completed the English round last year, we didn't think that we would ever manage Pillar Rock (especially as I'm over 50 and not terribly fit, never done any proper climbing). However we booked a 'taster session' at the Leeds indoor climbing wall which was excellent fun and did a great deal for our confidence. We arranged for Andy Brown of www.adventures.org.uk to guide us. Fortunately it wasn't a bad day weatherwise and the climb is pretty straighforward. Since then we have also taken a beginnners' course at the Leeds wall and look forward to doing some more outdoor climbing next year (Napes Needle and In Pin here we come!)
