Chris Thomas Pennine Bridleway, Mary Towneley Loop Although not as impressive as completing the Nuttalls, I have just ridden the 42 miles of the Mary Towneley Loop of the Pennine Bridleway, where I met John and Anne who were walking part of the same.I would like to recommend the trail to walkers, cyclists and especially horse riders. Covering the borders of East Lancashire and West Yorkshire, it travels through hill farms, along historic pack horse trails, across wild open moorland, above wooded valleys and past peaceful reservoirs, offering stunning scenery and glimpses of a rich agricultural and industrial heritage. I stopped overnight at B&Bs offering a warm and friendly welcome and excellent facilities for both horse and rider.
